The Grand Bazaar is located in the heart of the old city and is one of the largest covered markets in the world.
Bazaars in turkey besides being a place where you can find any things you want to buy, is a meeting place where people of all cultures is related. We can say that is a point of relation in town where you can spend your free time.
The “Grand Bazaar” (Turkish: Kapalıçarşı) in Istanbul is undoubtedly one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world. With around 4,000 stores spread over 61 streets which attract between 250,000 visitors a day and up to 400,000 on holidays.
All stores are located in architectural spaces, streets are covered barrel vaults run and decorated with handmade tiles. History tells us that it was built in 1,464 by order of Sultan Mehmed II and 1,864 rebuilt after a major earthquake.
Sellers are organized by guilds, and you can find all kinds of categories: carpets, jewelry, perfumes, fabrics, metals, leather. Also has a mosque, 21 hostels, two vaulted markets, seven sources and 18 doors .
